ether.fi Requires All 12 Node Operators to Run mump2p on Ethereum

Across 16 operators, mump2p serves validators with more than 1.4 million Ether (ETH) in active stake and is used by operators with roughly 22,000 validator keys.

ether.fi now requires all 12 of its Ethereum node operators to run Optimum’s mump2p software, adding another route for blocks to reach validators across its network.

As of Oct. 20, mump2p was running in production on Ethereum mainnet. The software had previously been optional for ether.fi operators. Across 16 operators, mump2p serves validators with more than 1.4 million Ether (ETH) in active stake. It is used by operators with roughly 22,000 validator keys.

mump2p provides an additional block-propagation route alongside Ethereum’s existing GossipSub system. Late block delivery can cause validators to miss attestation and maximal extractable value (MEV) rewards.

“We don’t mandate new infrastructure across our entire validator set unless we’re confident it raises the bar for our stakers and for the network,” said Rok Kopp, ether.fi co-founder and chief growth officer.

Optimum plans to extend mump2p to other high-throughput blockchains after Ethereum.
