The feature operates within NEAR’s private execution system. It does not change the XRP Ledger.

NEAR Protocol has added confidential swaps and payments for XRP (XRP), giving holders a way to use the asset inside NEAR’s private execution environment without posting that activity to its public blockchain.

Users can deposit XRP, exchange it for other assets and make payments through Confidential Intents. The system keeps activity inside its private environment off NEAR’s public chain. The feature operates on NEAR after a deposit; it is not an upgrade to the XRP Ledger. A deposit made from the XRP Ledger remains recorded there.

Confidential Intents was operating before the XRP addition. The service held about $160 million in assets as of Sept. 30, up roughly 463% from the previous quarter. That figure measures assets held in the service at the end of September. It predates the XRP feature and does not measure XRP use.
