OpenZeppelin and Chainlink Plan Three Institutional Reference Solutions
The planned packages will combine smart contracts with Chainlink workflows. A guide for moving applicable Defender workflows to Chainlink Runtime Environment is available now.

OpenZeppelin and Chainlink plan three institutional reference solutions that pair smart contracts with automated workflows, giving financial firms designs to evaluate for onchain applications.
Each package is expected to provide deployable code, design documents, a threat model, notes on security considerations and OpenZeppelin’s internal quality review. The companies intend to make them available first for private evaluation, internal development, testing and customer demonstrations. They expect to deliver the solutions in the coming months.
The plans extend the companies’ developer-tool integration, announced Oct. 20. Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) and Automated Compliance Engine (ACE) are now available in OpenZeppelin Wizards, AI tooling, Skills and documentation. Support in OpenZeppelin’s UI Builder is planned for a later release.
A new cross-chain option lets developers configure tokens for compatibility with the Cross-Chain Token (CCT) standard. A separate compliance option provides hooks for sanctions screening, know-your-customer checks, volume limits and Secure Mint. The integration covers ERC-20 and ERC-3643 tokens built with OpenZeppelin’s tools, as well as future token standards.
Developers can revise compliance policies without redeploying the core token contract. That allows rules to change after a token launches while leaving its underlying contract in place. CCIP handles cross-chain operations, while ACE supplies the configurable compliance functions.
OpenZeppelin has also released a guide for moving applicable workflows from its Defender product to Chainlink Runtime Environment (CRE). The guide includes a worked migration example. CRE coordinates advanced financial workflows and will be used alongside OpenZeppelin smart contracts in the three planned reference solutions.
The development tools and migration guide are available now. The next step is the planned release of the three reference solutions for private institutional use in the coming months.
