Musk Targets 200,000 Monthly Chip Additions in SpaceX AI Buildout
He expects about 10 gigawatts of additional AI compute online in 2027, beyond the 2.5 to 3 gigawatts targeted for the end of 2026.

SpaceX CEO and Chief Engineer Elon Musk said the company could add about 10 gigawatts of terrestrial AI computing capacity in 2027 as it puts its aerospace team to work on data center infrastructure.
On an Oct. 20 earnings call, Musk said SpaceX is on track to bring roughly 200,000 GB300 processors online each month for the rest of 2026. He expects that pace to continue next year, when Vera Rubin systems would make up most of the new computing equipment.
SpaceX expects to have 2.5 to 3 gigawatts of compute online by the end of 2026. Musk said he would be surprised if the total remained below 13 gigawatts by the end of 2027, a target that depends on bringing additional capacity online during that year.
Musk identified electricity, cooling and supporting infrastructure as the main constraints on expansion. SpaceX has assigned members of its aerospace team to the ground-based buildout, and Musk said he has spent as many as four days a week at Terafab working to get computing clusters running.
