Solana Activates Alpenglow Feature Gate on Mainnet at Epoch 1064
The consensus handoff is separate from gate activation. Votor targets transaction finality of about 150 milliseconds.

Solana’s Alpenglow feature gate is active on mainnet, marking a step in the consensus migration that removes validator votes from blocks and changes how the network’s transaction throughput is counted.
The gate activates at the start of epoch 1064. The migration plan places the consensus handoff about 5,000 slots later. Gate activation and the change in consensus are separate events.
A lower transactions-per-second (TPS) figure after the handoff would not, by itself, mean users submitted fewer transactions.
Votor targets finality of about 150 milliseconds, compared with roughly 12.8 seconds under TowerBFT. Finality is the point when a transaction can no longer be reversed; TPS measures how many transactions the network processes each second. The 150-millisecond figure remains a protocol target.
