Qubic Opens Recovery Claims After Seed Flaw Drains 1,404 Wallets
The blockchain has resumed processing, and affected wallet owners can submit claims through May 1, 2027.

Qubic resumed blockchain operations and opened recovery claims after a flaw in wallet seed generation exposed 1,404 wallets to a theft of about 2.94 trillion Qubic tokens (QU).
The network resumed processing at 4 p.m. ET (20:00 UTC) Oct. 19, following a protective halt at tick 85,371,949. The halt was intended to contain stolen assets while recovery was prepared.
Qubic announced Oct. 20 that its Computor quorum had approved the recovery plan and that the first funds had been returned to verified owners. The portal collects and verifies claims; the quorum decides and applies recoveries.
Claimants must identify the affected wallet, provide ownership evidence and designate a new identity generated with wallet software version 4.26.4 or later. The portal lists exchange withdrawal receipts and funding records from before the incident as possible supporting evidence.
The flaw involved insufficient randomness in wallet seed generation, rather than the blockchain protocol. Someone with a weak seed can produce a valid wallet signature, so a signature alone does not establish ownership.
The claims window remains open through May 1, 2027.
