At GTC Berlin on Oct. 21, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang urged Europe to build the capacity to produce artificial intelligence as NVIDIA works with 12,000-plus partners.

Huang framed participation in the AI economy as more than using AI tools. “To be part of this AI economy, you don’t want to just be consuming the AI; you want to be producing the AI,” he said. He compared the infrastructure needed for AI with the networks behind the internet and the electric grid, arguing that foundational systems must be in place for AI models to emerge.

Huang described five layers: energy, computing, AI factories, models and applications. Models running in AI factories produce tokens and digital intelligence, which applications then use. The layers trace a path from the resources needed to run AI to the outputs that reach users.

The remarks build on Huang’s earlier Berlin discussion of AI networks, which connected data centers and telecom base stations to the growth of AI infrastructure.

Huang named L’Oréal, Revolut, Spotify, Porsche and HSBC as European companies working with NVIDIA on AI. Separately, NVIDIA has committed nearly $10 billion to Europe’s technology ecosystem. Huang’s European tour before the keynote included Paris, London, Stockholm and Dublin.

GTC Berlin’s conference and exhibition continue through Oct. 22. The program includes more than 100 sessions covering agentic AI, robotics, physical AI, open models and accelerated computing.
