Arcium released Blackthorn into private alpha on Oct. 21, extending its cryptographic privacy work from blockchain applications into artificial intelligence.

Blackthorn is intended to apply cryptographic privacy methods to AI. The release followed Arcium's acquisition of Inpher's core technology and team.

Arcium introduced Blackthorn earlier, making the private-alpha release a later step for the initiative. Blackthorn's design removes the CPU trusted execution environment from its trust chain.
