Cardano Farm Registry Passes 100,000 Registrations in India
The records link parcel identifiers to satellite-verified boundaries and 12 years of crop and biomass data for intended reuse across finance, insurance, government programs and agricultural trade.

More than 100,000 farms in India are registered on Cardano, with parcel identifiers tied to satellite-verified boundaries and 12 years of crop and biomass data intended for reuse across finance, insurance, government programs and agricultural trade.
The project involves Syngenta Foundation India and 5am.Earth, along with AIQUANT, Anastasia Labs and Andamio. The records are designed to make parcel and farming information reusable across those sectors.
The system is built to accommodate one million farmers without operating costs rising in proportion to enrollment. That figure describes the system’s designed capacity, not the number of farms currently registered.
The records do not establish legal ownership or transfer land titles. In 2015–16, India had 126.06 million small and marginal operational holdings, equal to 86% of all holdings. Operational holdings refer to land operated by a person or entity and include holdings of up to two hectares, making them a separate measure from the project’s farm registrations.
“Public blockchain infrastructure enables independent verification at a scale traditional systems cannot match,” said Deepak Ekka, a key account manager at Syngenta Foundation India.
