Eclair Fixes Lightning Bugs Without Requiring Channel Closures
Operators can keep channels open while upgrading, but they must stop and restart Eclair to complete the patch.

Eclair has released a security update for bugs that could let a peer take funds from a Lightning node, allowing operators to install the fix without closing their channels.
The upgrade still requires a restart. Operators must stop Eclair and start it again after applying the update, so the patch avoids channel closure but does not eliminate the need to restart the node software.
That distinction defines the operational requirement: closing channels is unnecessary, but the Eclair process must be stopped and restarted to complete the upgrade. Operators can keep channels open while carrying out those steps.
This is Eclair's second security release in five days. The update addresses bugs that could allow peers to steal funds. It gives Eclair node operators a way to apply the fix without closing channels, while retaining the restart requirement.
For operators running Eclair, the update requires pausing the software process but does not require closing payment channels.
