Uniswap plans to launch a new hook feature Thursday, Oct. 22, extending a system that lets developers set distinct trading and liquidity rules for individual pools.

Developers select a hook when creating a pool. The code can run around swaps and when liquidity is added or removed, allowing pools to use different fee, access or liquidity settings. Separate pools for the same assets can have different rules, and the selected hook cannot later be replaced.

Uniswap v4 launched in January 2025. Its VolatilePair Hook on Ethereum mainnet adjusts fees for Ether (ETH)/USDC trades based on price movements and trade direction.

The new feature is scheduled to launch Oct. 22.
