Haseeb Qureshi Says Crypto Hacks May Signal Wider Cyberattack Wave
He said hack counts have climbed sharply even as annualized theft remains near 2025 levels, pointing to lower average losses per attack.

Dragonfly Managing Partner Haseeb Qureshi said a rise in crypto hacks could foreshadow a wider cyberattack wave, arguing that on-chain attacks offer a direct path to monetization.
Qureshi described the global threat as a wave similar to the COVID-19 pandemic, with crypto experiencing it before traditional internet businesses. He said crypto hack counts have climbed sharply, while the annualized value of stolen funds remains roughly in line with 2025, suggesting lower average losses per attack.
Qureshi said attackers are focusing on smaller decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols with weaker security and less maintenance. Larger protocols have begun using artificial intelligence tools to strengthen defenses, he said. Qureshi expects the broader attack trend to spread to traditional internet businesses.
