An Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP) draft would introduce a consensus mechanism on the Beacon Chain that separates votes on the available chain head from proofs of finality. Its stated aims are to improve fork-choice security, shorten the time to final confirmation and prepare for a future post-quantum transition.

The draft shares the faster-finality focus of an earlier Ethereum redesign.
