A suspected exploit drained about $75,000 from the WAX multichain bridge across WAX, Solana and Ethereum in five transactions on Thursday, Oct. 22, as the cross-chain service released assets without matching payment on WAX.

The transfers included 52,986 USD Coin (USDC), 21,558 Tether (USDT), 840 Dai (DAI), 2.55 wrapped Ether (WETH) and 0.11 wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC). The reported value of the assets was about $75,000.

Mapped tokens were withdrawn on WAX without corresponding assets being paid in. Bridge contracts on Solana and Ethereum then released the matching tokens, creating a gap between the WAX withdrawal and payouts on the other two networks.

That sequence linked withdrawals on one chain with token releases on two others. The incident’s full scope and whether losses were still increasing had not been confirmed.
