DFINITY founder Dom accused NEAR Intents of using DFINITY threshold ECDSA without authorization, saying the dispute involves technology used in cross-chain asset custody and transaction signing.

In a post on X, Dom alleged the technology was authorized for use only on Internet Computer. He said it can produce signatures about three times faster than other approaches.

Dom also alleged NEAR deployed the technology across eight servers, which he argued fell short of the project’s advertised standards for decentralization and security. He said recent GitHub records pointed to an effort to replace the algorithm with one that is roughly three times slower.

Dom suggested the proposed change may reflect concern about NEAR’s use of the technology. He said he believes DFINITY and the ICP community were harmed and hopes the parties can resolve the dispute.
