DFINITY founder Dom said a key component used by NEAR Intents involved DFINITY proprietary technology and accused NEAR of using technology licensed only for Internet Computer without permission.

Dom described the component as using threshold ECDSA, a method used in cross-chain asset custody and transaction signing. He said it can produce signatures about three times faster than other approaches. He also alleged NEAR deployed it across eight servers, a setup he said did not deliver the decentralization and security NEAR has promoted.

Dom accused NEAR of using technology licensed only for the Internet Computer (ICP) without permission. He said the alleged use could create legal liability and had harmed DFINITY and the ICP community. Dom said the parties should resolve the dispute.
