Espresso Benchmark Measures 181 MB/s Throughput, 778-Millisecond Median Settlement

A benchmark of Espresso’s production consensus software measured 181 MB/s of data throughput across 100 validators, with global network delays emulated. Median settlement time was 778 milliseconds at peak capacity.

The validators ran production software; the test emulated network delays between global locations. It was not a live-mainnet throughput measurement.

At about 180 bytes per simple token transfer, the measured data rate represents about 1 million transfers per second across parallel environments. That is an estimate based on data volume, not a direct count of completed transfers each second on one chain.

The upgrade moved block building inside the leader node and introduced an encrypted, fully connected network for one-hop message delivery. It also removed a separate data-availability committee and added XOR erasure coding and BLAKE3 hashing to reduce computational overhead.

The benchmark adds network-delay and settlement-time results to TokenPost’s earlier coverage of Espresso’s throughput estimate.
