Heatbit Opens Refundable $899 Preorders for Bitcoin (BTC) Mining Heater

The screw-in unit replaces the lower heating element in compatible 30- to 80-gallon tanks; first shipments are planned for the first quarter of 2027.

Heatbit began taking refundable $899 preorders Thursday, Oct. 22, for Bitwater, a screw-in element designed to mine Bitcoin (BTC) and reuse chip heat to warm an existing electric tank.

The Genesis batch costs $899, while later batches are listed at up to $1,299. Preorders are refundable. Heatbit plans to begin shipping units in the first quarter of 2027.

The retrofit is intended for existing electric storage tanks holding 30 to 80 gallons and equipped with a standard 1-inch screw-in port. It replaces the lower heating element, leaving the upper element and thermostat in place. That makes it a retrofit for compatible tanks rather than a complete water-heater replacement.

Bitwater is designed to use heat from its mining chips to warm the tank. Its Autotune system adjusts power and mining settings as water-heating demand changes, linking the device’s settings to changes in the need for hot water.

Bitwater has 20 mining chips and is rated for up to 34 terahashes per second (TH/s), power use of up to 600 watts and efficiency starting at 12 joules per terahash (J/TH). TH/s measures mining rate, watts measure power use, and J/TH relates energy use to mining output. The rate and power figures are stated as maximums, while the efficiency figure starts at 12 J/TH.

The unit defaults to solo mining, where a payout depends on finding a block. Owners can switch to a mining pool, which distributes rewards among participants. Earnings can vary with Bitcoin’s price and network difficulty, as well as the device’s performance. Whether rewards offset the purchase price will depend on Bitwater’s performance and the bitcoin it earns.

Superheat announced preorders for its H1C Bitcoin-mining water heater in July. The H1C was listed at $2,999, with deliveries projected for the fourth quarter of 2026. Bitwater’s planned first-quarter 2027 shipments come after that projected delivery window, and its $899 Genesis price is lower than the H1C’s listed price.
