Cashu is an open protocol for Chaumian ecash on Bitcoin (BTC). Mints issue bearer tokens against Lightning and custody the satoshis represented by the ecash.

Each token represents a claim against the mint that issued it. Because the mint holds the corresponding satoshis, users need to choose operators they trust.

The protocol and associated wallets remain in early development.
