Hyperliquid Plans to Roughly Double HIP-3 Volume Counted Toward L1 Limits

Most HIP-3 perpetual markets are expected to see roughly twice as much volume count toward L1 user rate limits. Fee-tier volume calculations will remain unchanged.

Hyperliquid plans to change how HIP-3 perpetual trading volume counts toward user rate limits on its Layer 1 network, with the adjustment expected to roughly double the contribution for most markets.

The planned formula will count the full fee generated by HIP-3 trading, rather than only the protocol’s share. Hyperliquid plans to introduce the change in its next network upgrade after receiving user feedback.

The adjustment affects the volume calculation used for L1 user rate limits. It will not change actual trading volume or fee rates, and HIP-3 volume will continue to count the same way toward fee tiers.

Hyperliquid’s HIP-3 framework lets qualified third-party teams launch perpetual contract markets tied to assets such as equities, commodities and indexes.
