XRPL Validator Says XRP’s Role Extends Beyond Its Market Price
Vet cited XRP’s use in some token trades, transaction fees and account reserves as evidence of its role on the ledger.

XRPL validator Vet argued that XRP has practical roles on the ledger beyond its market price, including routing some token trades and covering costs tied to network activity.
Vet said the XRP Ledger has supported multiple assets since 2012 and described XRP as its native asset. On the ledger’s decentralized exchange, XRP can serve as an intermediate asset for trades between issued tokens when that route offers a better price than a direct trade. The auto-bridging feature can combine direct offers with routes through XRP.
Vet also pointed to XRP’s use for transaction fees and account reserve requirements. He distinguished XRP from issued assets, arguing that it does not rely on an issuer to continue existing and cannot be frozen at the protocol level.
Vet’s broader argument was that building a useful ledger and attracting users and businesses should be the priority, with wider use and acceptance reflected in XRP’s price.
