iPhone Duo Users Report Screen Cracks Near the Hinge After Few Uses
A forum moderator substantiated one Australian buyer’s damage and replacement account, but did not establish what caused the screen to break.

Reports from Australia and Texas describe inner-screen failures near the hinge on Apple’s iPhone Duo; one moderator found an Australian owner’s photos and Apple records supported a broken display and replacement, but did not establish why it failed.
The Australian user, posting as u/Midnight_Slump, said the phone had been in their possession for about six hours and had been opened fewer than 20 times. “As I continued opening it, I heard an audible crack, and the screen broke right along the hinge,” the user wrote. They said Apple replaced the phone at a store.
A moderator of the iPhone Duo forum said photos and Apple documentation supplied by the user substantiated the damage and replacement. The moderator said the evidence did not establish what caused the break.
A second user who identified Dallas, Texas, as their location described the hinge tightening and making a loud pop after about four folds. The title of that post says the screen cracked before setup was complete.
Apple began global sales of the iPhone Duo, its first foldable iPhone, on Oct. 23. The phone has a 7.6-inch inner display and a hinge made from more than 100 components. The two accounts do not establish how widespread the damage is.
