Arbitrum Proposal Would Resume Stylus Activations on One After Security Review
New contracts would also need approval from the Arbitrum Foundation’s multisig, while existing contracts could keep running and renew permissionlessly.

A constitutional-level governance proposal for Arbitrum would restore new Stylus contract activations on Arbitrum One, requiring a limited security audit and Arbitrum Foundation multisig approval for each contract.
The audit would have to be performed by an auditor in Arbitrum’s Security Program. New contracts could be activated only after the review and multisig approval.
The proposal follows the Oct. 2 halt on new Stylus activations, when Arbitrum’s Security Council paused activations on One and Nova over a potential denial-of-service risk. The proposal applies to Arbitrum One.
Stylus lets developers build WebAssembly programs for Arbitrum. Under the proposal, active contracts could keep operating and renew permissionlessly. ArbitrumDAO would retain the power to revoke or change the Foundation’s authorization through a governance vote.
