An X post claim attributed to @solana linked the speed of light to limits on Solana’s network operations, while earlier validator modeling estimated distance-based delay without measuring current network performance.

The model evaluated 6,250 simulated stake distributions across locations of 124 observed validators in six macroregions. It estimated delay from distance alone, assuming fiber routes were 50% longer than great-circle distance and signals traveled at about two-thirds the speed of light. The model added no validator locations.

The results were scenarios based on observed validator geography and simulated stake distributions. They do not establish that signal travel time currently constrains Solana’s live network. The prior validator model examined geographic effects under those assumptions.
