CoinDCX acknowledged a $15.99 million loss in Tether (USDT) from deprecated deposit wallets, revising its earlier account of suspicious outflows while maintaining that customer balances and active systems were unaffected.

The crypto exchange said customers continued sending deposits to the old addresses and received credit in their accounts. A separate automated service was meant to move those funds into a primary wallet. When it failed, funds accumulated in the deprecated wallets. CoinDCX said it absorbed the loss.

CoinDCX noticed unusual activity on Oct. 21 and irregular fund movements on Oct. 22. Transactions on the TRON network show 15.99 million USDT leaving 40 wallets on Oct. 21. Some affected addresses also received deposits that day, conflicting with CoinDCX’s earlier assertion that the addresses had not been used since a 2025 incident.

The exchange disclosed a separate compromise of an internal operational account on July 19, 2025, when about 44 million USDT was routed away. CoinDCX said it would cover that exposure from reserves.
