iPhone Duo Users Post Images of Cracks Near the Phone’s Hinge

The images show white, ray-shaped cracks extending from the hinge’s center toward the lower-right part of the display. Apple has said the hinge has more than 100 components and uses a 3D-printed module.

Users have posted images showing cracks near the hinge on Apple’s first foldable phone, raising a hardware concern just days after the iPhone Duo went on sale in major markets.

The phone launched Oct. 23. The images show white, ray-shaped cracks starting near the center of the hinge and extending toward the lower-right part of the display.

Apple has said the hinge contains more than 100 components and uses a 3D-printed module. The iPhone Duo is already in mass production.

Component supplier Fine M-Tec said recent quality problems involving the phone were unrelated to assembly of the components it supplied.
