STMicroelectronics Introduces Four Automotive Safety Sensors in Production
Each device measures acceleration and angular rate in one package. STMicroelectronics guarantees at least 15 years of product availability.

STMicroelectronics introduced four automotive safety sensors on Oct. 26 that were already in production, combining two types of motion measurement for crash protection, vehicle stability and driver-assistance systems.
The NCS1012BAEP, NCS1012CAEP, NCS1012EAEP and NCS10135AEP each measure acceleration and angular rate in one package. Their intended uses include crash and rollover detection, airbag deployment, vehicle stability control and radar-beam stabilization.
STMicroelectronics described the lineup as its first mass-market sensor launch since completing its acquisition of NXP Semiconductors’ automotive and industrial MEMS sensor business on Feb. 2.
The sensors comply with ISO 26262, an automotive safety standard, and support SafeSPI, which allows independent monitoring of sensor data. STMicroelectronics guarantees product availability for at least 15 years.
Simone Ferri, STMicroelectronics executive vice president for the MEMS Sub-Group, said the devices “simplify system architecture, accelerate development, and increase flexibility to scale features and performance.”
