At GBBC’s Annual Blockchain Central event, Geisenberger called for digital definitions of carbon credits, saying the lack of a digital framework makes financing them more difficult.

He said trusted data, standards suited to institutions and secure custody could help carbon credits function as collateral. A digital framework could also support more structured financial products involving the credits.
