Balancer said it found more than $500,000 in assets left in its protocol by external users and institutions, along with unclaimed rewards, while taking inventory of DAO assets. The discovery comes as the protocol moves through a phased wind-down approved by governance.

Some v3 liquidity assets are recorded internally in Balancer’s Vault, so they may not appear on block explorers or portfolio dashboards. In other cases, users withdrew v2 liquidity but left rewards unclaimed.

Ethena and Gauntlet were among the entities with identified positions. Balancer said it notified relevant asset owners and that some institutions have begun withdrawals.

Under the phased wind-down plan approved by Balancer governance, some pools are scheduled to stop supporting activity other than withdrawals on Oct. 30.
