giftee Group, Inc. Expects ¥550 Million Loss After E-Gift System Breach
The company plans to record the estimated loss in its October-December quarter. Existing customer voucher balances were not reduced, giftee Inc. said.

giftee Group, Inc. expects a ¥550 million loss after unauthorized access to subsidiary giftee Inc.’s system led to e-gifts being issued, a charge equal to about 59% of its 2025 net income.
The incident occurred Oct. 25, and the group disclosed it the following day. The group expects to record an estimated ¥550 million special loss in its October-December quarter. The amount is about 19% of its ¥2.882 billion ordinary-profit forecast for 2026. The group does not expect a material effect on revenue or operating profit.
The announcement did not disclose how much of the improperly issued e-gifts had been redeemed. The giftee service lets users send coffee, sweets and shopping vouchers online. Companies and local governments also use the service for promotions, survey rewards and employee benefits.
giftee Inc. said in an Oct. 27 customer notice that existing vouchers had not been misused, customer balances had not been reduced and no personal data leak had been confirmed. Some e-gift redemptions were temporarily disrupted but are gradually recovering.
Shares in giftee Group fell 11.94% to ¥907 on Oct. 27, from ¥1,030 in the prior session. Trading volume reached about 960,000 shares, more than six times the previous day’s level.
The group shut down the affected system on Oct. 25, blocked the access route and said it would not use the system again. It is consulting police and plans to strengthen controls and monitoring for e-gift issuance.
