After attending BNB Standard’s Nasdaq opening-bell ceremony in New York on Oct. 26, Binance co-founder Changpeng Zhao said at a media briefing that crypto could be used for AI payments and that he wants BNB Chain to serve as a primary network for them.

Zhao said AI agents might pay with Bitcoin (BTC), stablecoins or tokens issued by AI companies. He gave no timeline or detailed plan for making BNB Chain a hub for those transactions.

He also raised the possibility of bringing tokens tied to computing resources onto BNB Chain. Zhao said he had discussed the idea earlier that day but did not explain how the tokens would be designed.

Zhao acknowledged that crypto payments can be cumbersome when users hold tokens that merchants do not accept. He advised payment startups to focus on underserved markets and remittance routes before trying to compete with Apple Pay and Google Pay in the United States.

The network-specific goal builds on Zhao’s earlier argument that AI agents will need crypto to transact, which he discussed in comments about AI and blockchain in Japan.
