U.S. intelligence officials assessed that Alice Huang (Huang Le), a Chinese national and Megaspeed executive, gathered information for Beijing, raising security questions around Nvidia’s sales to data-center firms.

Officials described Huang as having a close relationship with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang; they share a surname but are not related. The U.S. government has not publicly confirmed the allegations.

President Donald Trump received a briefing on the findings about a year ago but took no action.

Nvidia said Jensen Huang’s interactions with Alice Huang were consistent with routine customer meetings. The company said Megaspeed received ordinary business information, not sensitive trade secrets or national security information, and that it had investigated and rejected claims that the data-center company smuggled chips to China.

Megaspeed said it hired outside lawyers to conduct an internal review and will cooperate with U.S. authorities. China’s Embassy in Washington called the allegations baseless.

Megaspeed buys Nvidia chips and rents computing capacity to Chinese companies, including Alibaba.
