First Digital has frozen about 3.4 million FDUSD in a wallet that blockchain analyst Specter linked to the attacker in the Binance security incident, after blacklisting the address.

The affected wallet held about 3.4 million FDUSD, and First Digital blocked that address. Specter associated the wallet with the Binance attacker, tying the freeze to the security incident.

Binance has described the incident as potentially involving a compromised laptop belonging to a DevOps engineer and estimated the impact at about $6.3 billion. Binance’s description presents the laptop compromise as a possibility, while the dollar figure is its estimate of the incident’s impact.

The freeze applies to about 3.4 million FDUSD in the address Specter identified. The $6.3 billion figure is Binance’s estimated impact for its security incident. The figures describe separate parts of the event: a frozen token balance and Binance’s estimate of the incident’s impact.
