Binance has kept withdrawals paused after a major breach, while the exchange says about $3 billion in affected assets has been frozen on-chain. Deposits continue to operate normally, leaving customers able to add funds while they cannot withdraw assets through the exchange.

Teng said the breach was not a “one-click” attack. That statement addresses how the incident should be characterized, while Binance’s current service status remains split between working deposits and paused withdrawals.

Binance says the roughly $3 billion in affected assets has been frozen on-chain, a figure tied to assets immobilized after the breach rather than a stated loss total. The freeze and withdrawal pause describe different parts of the incident: the first concerns affected assets on-chain, while the second concerns customer access to funds through Binance.

For users, the immediate status is that incoming deposits remain possible, but withdrawals have not resumed. The exchange is operating normally for deposits while withdrawal service remains paused.
