Ripple and World Liberty Freeze RLUSD and USD1 Tied to Binance Hack
Ripple froze 40.5 million RLUSD at 6:01 p.m. ET, and World Liberty Financial froze 27.8 million USD1 at 6:10 p.m. ET Oct. 29.

Ripple froze 40.5 million Ripple USD (RLUSD), while World Liberty Financial froze 27.8 million USD1 tied to Binance’s Oct. 29 security breach, blocking assets in attacker-controlled wallets.
The RLUSD freeze took place at 6:01 p.m. ET (22:01 UTC). Before it, 48 million of the 88.5 million RLUSD that reached the attacker’s wallet had been sold. Ripple also blocked RLUSD in a compromised Binance hot wallet.
World Liberty froze 27.8 million USD1 in the attacker’s receiving wallet at 6:10 p.m. ET (22:10 UTC), then blocked USD1 in the compromised Binance hot wallet at 6:26 p.m. ET (22:26 UTC). The company worked with BitGo, USD1’s issuer, on the freeze.
World Liberty Financial owns the USD1 brand and provides related services. Binance said deposits and withdrawals were paused during security checks and that losses would be covered by its SAFU fund and company funds. The freeze figures do not establish how much has been returned to Binance.
