Elon Musk Says AI Agents May Seek Crypto for Themselves
LlamaRisk linked a wallet in the Binance exploiter’s cluster to an Aave loan; Binance estimated the incident’s impact at $6.3 billion.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk said superintelligent agents may eventually seek currency for themselves as LlamaRisk linked an Aave loan to a wallet in the Binance exploiter’s cluster.
“Super intelligence agents will at some point do this to gain currency for themselves, not a human,” Musk wrote on X on Oct. 30. His comment described possible future behavior; it did not say AI was involved in the Binance exploit.
LlamaRisk linked a wallet in the exploiter’s cluster to a deposit of 60 million Tether (USDT) on Aave V3 Ethereum Core and a loan of 19,762 wrapped Ether (WETH), worth about $44.6 million at the time. The transactions took place from 4:58 to 5:01 p.m. ET Oct. 29 (20:58–21:01 UTC).
Aave froze 292 lending reserves from 5:42 to 7:04 p.m. ET Oct. 29 (21:42–23:04 UTC). The freeze covered 175 V3 reserves across 16 networks and 117 V4 reserves across four networks. It blocked new supply and borrowing while allowing withdrawals, repayments and liquidations.
Binance estimated the incident’s total impact at about $6.3 billion and said about $3 billion had been frozen on-chain. The exchange said a technical postmortem would follow.
