Aave guardians froze 292 reserves across its V3 and V4 lending markets after a wallet that LlamaRisk linked to the suspected Binance exploiter borrowed on the protocol, blocking new supply and borrowing.

The action covered 175 V3 reserves on 16 networks and 117 V4 reserves on four networks. It ran from 5:42 to 7:04 p.m. ET Oct. 29 (21:42–23:04 UTC). LlamaRisk linked the wallet to activity from 4:58 to 5:01 p.m. ET (20:58–21:01 UTC), when it supplied $60 million in Tether (USDT) and borrowed 19,762 wrapped Ether (WETH), then worth about $44.6 million. LlamaRisk put the wallet’s collateral at $59.9 million and its debt at $43.8 million.

The freeze stopped new supply and borrowing in affected reserves, while users could still withdraw and repay loans and liquidations continued. Aave’s Horizon market for tokenized real-world assets remained open.

Binance estimated the breach affected about $6.3 billion in assets and said about $3 billion had been frozen on-chain. The exchange pledged to cover losses with its SAFU fund and company funds.
