Binance, one of the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchanges, temporarily suspended withdrawals while carrying out a security upgrade, restricting customers’ ability to move funds off the platform during the work.

The exchange said deposits remain available and trading can continue as usual. Binance expects withdrawals to resume within 48 hours.

The company described the work as a security overhaul and is investigating an incident, including tracing attack paths through compromised systems. The suspension applies to withdrawals, while the exchange’s deposit and trading functions remain in operation.

For customers, that means assets can still be deposited and traded on Binance, but transfers off the platform remain unavailable during the pause. The distinction leaves customers able to use Binance for deposits and trading while they wait for the security work to finish. The expected restoration window of 48 hours is the next service milestone for users waiting to withdraw funds from the exchange.
