Exin CEO Says Three AI Models Directed Gene Therapy Injections in Mice

The models received 19 candidate vectors and chose different brain regions. Seizure outcomes have not been reported.

Exin Therapeutics co-founder and CEO Gabriel Ocana-Santero said three AI models each directed a gene-therapy injection into a separate mouse in an epilepsy study, with seizure results still pending.

His post appeared Oct. 30 at 5:47 p.m. ET (21:47 UTC). Ocana-Santero said each model received the same 19 candidate vectors and the goal of reducing seizures. Claude Sonnet 5 selected the entorhinal cortex, GPT-6.1 Sol the hippocampus and Grok 4.7 the somatosensory cortex. He said the models proposed different therapies and mechanisms.

Ocana-Santero said each model chose the injection location and volume, set the rig’s movement and wait intervals, and operated the stereotaxic rig while viewing camera images.

He described the comparison as one animal per model and said the mice were recovering. Their behavior and brain activity would be monitored in the coming weeks, he said. Asked whether one model performed better, Ocana-Santero said it was “too early to say.” He reported no seizure outcomes.
