Solana Merges p-ATA Proposal After 35% Less Execution Time
SIMD-0567 would replace the existing associated token account program, but a migration is still needed to complete the mainnet replacement.

Solana Foundation has merged a proposal to replace the network’s associated token account program with p-ATA, an optimized alternative that cut transaction execution time by about 35% in benchmarks.
SIMD-0567 proposes replacing the existing associated token account (ATA) program with p-ATA, which is built on Pinocchio. The proposal aims to reduce compute-unit (CU) use and improve execution efficiency. Benchmarks showed p-ATA cut transaction execution time by about 35% compared with the existing program.
In a test configuration that supplied a Rent Sysvar account, CU use fell further. Execution time increased slightly in that configuration, with a transaction-level slowdown of about 1%.
The merge advances the proposal on the main branch but does not complete the program replacement on Solana mainnet. The new program still needs to be deployed through the established migration process.
