Uniswap marked eight years since its protocol launch Nov. 2, with Hayden Adams describing its share of the market spanning decentralized and centralized exchanges as rising from zero to 40% since launch.

Uniswap is a decentralized exchange (DEX), a platform that lets users swap cryptocurrencies without an intermediary. Decentralized exchanges have gained traction among traders seeking alternatives to centralized platforms.

Separately, Uniswap held $82.8 million in tokenized-stock decentralized finance (DeFi), about 27% of the segment’s $304.7 million in total value locked (TVL). The figure covers its tokenized-stock DeFi holdings, not all assets on the exchange, as earlier coverage of tokenized-stock DeFi provides further context.
