Tether Has Frozen More Than 7 Billion USDT Across Secondary-Market Addresses
Its work with U.S. authorities had covered more than 3,590 wallets involving about 1.6 billion USDT by Oct. 31.

Tether has frozen more than 7 billion USDT across secondary-market addresses, while its work with U.S. authorities has covered more than 3,590 wallets involving about 1.6 billion USDT as of Oct. 31.
The authorities involved were the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Secret Service and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The figures measure Tether’s total freezes across secondary-market addresses and its cooperation on agency-linked wallet freezes.
Separately, Tether froze more than $1.5 billion in USDT within 30 minutes after the Oct. 29 Binance hack. The freeze prevented the related funds from being transferred, exchanged or laundered. The FBI attributed the attack to North Korea.
The $1.5 billion figure refers to the Binance-linked freeze. It is distinct from Tether’s broader total across secondary-market addresses and the wallet count tied to its work with U.S. agencies. The agency tally is dated Oct. 31, two days after the Binance attack.
