The Ethereum Foundation outlined a proof of concept for an Ethereum-based humanitarian aid coordination network that checks credentials without revealing their issuers and keeps personal data off-chain. The foundation’s technical team developed the design with humanitarian organizations.

The system pairs decentralized identity with payment tools intended to protect privacy. It uses zero-knowledge proofs for credential checks, allowing verification without exposing who issued a credential. Personal data is stored off-chain.

The design also uses ERC-4337, privacy addresses and Semaphore. The team completed performance testing on low-end Android devices, and related code has been open-sourced on GitHub.
