The FBI, U.S. Secret Service and IRS Criminal Investigation asked THORNode operators and other crypto firms to block transfers tied to the theft of more than $6 billion from Binance.

In an Oct. 31 alert, the FBI named North Korea’s TraderTraitor operation as responsible for the theft, which took place on or about Oct. 29.

The request also covered RPC node operators, instant-swap services, decentralized finance providers, blockchain analytics firms and other virtual-asset businesses. It set no deadline and described no court order.

The FBI said stolen assets were being converted mainly into Ether (ETH) and said it expected more laundering through decentralized finance and instant-swap services.

THORChain co-founder Chad Barraford wrote that node operators already had real-time access to public information about the activity. “THORNode operators have zero information that isn't already public and readily available in real time,” he wrote. He did not announce that operators would block any listed addresses.
