Aztec Foundation announced Tierra Alpha V6, an upgrade for its privacy-focused Ethereum layer 2, with changes to security and network performance. The upgrade addresses a serious vulnerability in V5 and adds an AI-based security testing tool. Core cryptographic components underwent formal verification.

Client-side proof generation takes about one second on a typical device, with proof-generation speed doubled. Separately, average message delivery from Ethereum to Aztec falls from two minutes to no more than 12 seconds. That timing applies specifically to messages traveling from Ethereum to Aztec, rather than Ethereum transfers generally.

Privacy applications accompanying the rollout include zk.money, Galactica, Nemi, Nulo and Rolling Chat. Aztec's network has more than 3,000 validators.
