Binance confirmed a significant security breach involving its wallet-signing service, bringing the exchange’s transaction-authorization controls into focus.

The account @SolanaFloor said an engineer inadvertently downloaded a malicious file on a work computer, helping attackers reach sensitive systems. The claim links the alleged intrusion to an employee’s device.

A wallet-signing service is used to authorize digital-asset transactions. The breach therefore centers on part of exchange infrastructure that can affect how transactions are approved and how users assess platform security.

Binance operates a large cryptocurrency exchange that offers trading in multiple digital assets. A security incident at an exchange can affect customer confidence in how the platform protects accounts and assets, as well as perceptions of security across crypto markets.

The incident raises questions about the resilience of wallet services and the risks posed by malware on employee devices. It also puts exchange security practices in focus for users who rely on platforms to trade digital assets.
