Keysight Launches 14-Bit XR3 Oscilloscope for Dense Test Systems

Keysight Technologies (KEYS) introduced the XR3, a 14-bit oscilloscope that fits in one rack unit and is designed for automated test systems with limited rack space.

The XR3 combines four analog and 16 digital channels. Its selectable bandwidth ranges from 200 MHz to 1 GHz. The instrument has 100 million points of memory per channel, a 50-microvolt RMS noise floor and an update rate of 1.3 million waveforms per second.

Multiple XR3 units can synchronize in one system to provide more than 100 time-correlated channels. An autosensing 10 MHz reference connection and hardware-based auto-sync, auto-discovery and auto-deskew functions coordinate the instruments.

Infiniium 2026 software can run on an external controller to manage multiple XR3 units through one interface. The instrument also includes software for protocol decoding, power-supply testing and jitter analysis.

Keysight is targeting automated test systems used in aerospace and defense, manufacturing and physics. Dense setups that combine multiple instruments can require rack space and cabling, while additional units can introduce signal skew.

Jun Chie, vice president of Keysight product management, said, “Engineers building dense test systems should not have to choose between measurement performance and rack space.”

Keysight shares closed at $305.11 on Tuesday, Nov. 3, up $6.17, or 2.06%, from the previous close at 4 p.m. ET (21:00 UTC). The stock had fallen 2.69% in the prior session. Tuesday’s close was about 21.8% below its 52-week high of $389.93, reached Oct. 6.

Keysight did not disclose a price, availability date or expected financial contribution for the XR3.
