Megapot will close its megapot.io app and Telegram mini app on Dec. 1, ending access for some users as it shifts focus to Prizerail while its onchain lottery protocol continues operating.

Users who signed in with email, X or Telegram must withdraw their balances before the shutdown. Those accounts will no longer be available afterward. Users who connected their own wallets will retain their tickets and winnings.

Onchain lottery prizes and referral fees can still be claimed through Basescan or third-party apps after Dec. 1. Guaranteed prizes, which are handled offchain, must be claimed before the deadline. Prizes from free lottery entries can be paid in USDC. Balances can currently be withdrawn without identity verification.

Ticket sales through Megapot’s website and Telegram mini app stopped Oct. 29. The liquidity backer program, signup and referral rewards, and guaranteed prizes have ended, while the points program is paused. Liquidity providers can continue supplying funds or withdraw at any time. Megapot has also marked its data interface as deprecated and no longer maintains it; the service will stop later.

Megapot said most of its protocol transaction volume now comes from apps that use lottery chances as rewards for deposits, trades and referrals. The team is turning to Prizerail, an enterprise sweepstakes platform that operates separately from the protocol. Prospective customers sought U.S. compliance and legal memos for payment providers, and did not want the product associated with betting.

Of 20 potential customers from a presentation in Singapore, 19 chose Prizerail and one chose Megapot, the team said. Megapot also said dozens of independent apps use its protocol, which has paid more than $1 million in prizes. Ticket volume tripled over the past three months. For the first time, the liquidity pool operated without incentives over the past month.

The official apps are scheduled to close Dec. 1; users with email, X or Telegram accounts must withdraw before then.
