Twenty organizations, including Huawei, Alibaba, Tencent and Xiaomi, issued a self-regulation pact Nov. 4 calling for shared infrastructure to connect agents across domains and bring them into industry workflows.

The infrastructure effort would cover agent registration and resolution, descriptions and discovery of capabilities, and the interpretation and conversion of intent. It also includes network routing and connection, resource scheduling and metering, and compatibility and mutual recognition among protocols.

The pact links that work to lowering the cost of finding and connecting agents across domains and supporting coordination among them. The listed areas span how agents are identified and discovered, how requests are interpreted, and how network connections, resources and protocols support interaction.

For workplace use, the organizations call for accessible tools to develop and deploy agents. They also propose joint development of agents for real work scenarios that create practical value, followed by integration into existing production systems and business processes.

The pact frames the effort as serving the real economy and accelerating agent use across industries. Its stated goals include lowering the costs of applying agents and improving both quality and efficiency in industry.
