Musk Says Space Data Centers Look Appealing as AI Infrastructure Stocks Fall
Democrats’ wins in both chambers raised concern about tighter construction limits. CoreWeave, Applied Digital and IREN fell in premarket trading, while Invesco QQQ tech futures gained 0.3%.

Elon Musk said space data centers looked appealing as AI infrastructure stocks fell in premarket trading Wednesday, after Democrats won both chambers of Congress and investor concern grew over possible construction limits.
“Data centers in space looking pretty appealing right now,” Musk wrote on X after Republican losses.
CoreWeave fell about 3.3%, Applied Digital lost about 3% and IREN declined 4.3% before the market opened Wednesday. Invesco QQQ tech futures rose 0.3%, while broader stock futures recovered from earlier losses.
Investor concern centered partly on Texas, where Democrat Gina Hinojosa was projected to win. Hinojosa supports a moratorium on AI data centers. Texas accounts for 27% of planned U.S. data center power capacity.
A broader slide left CoreWeave, Cipher Digital, IREN and Nebius 50% to 60% below their summer peaks, with investors weighing infrastructure outlays, debt and expected returns.
The remarks echoed Musk’s Nov. 2 forecast that most future superintelligence computing would be deployed in space.
